Overview of Thule Completion System (TCS)

 

TCS is a thoroughly modern database application which can be scaled to your needs.  It can be used efficiently by the smallest and the largest of possible projects.  The largest projects we have served are the building of the Ekofisk Phase II and the Sakhalin Phase I/II. The smallest is perhaps the testing of a single software package for a niche software developer.  The only difference between the two extremes can be underlying database software (e.g. does the size of the project warrant the use of Oracle database or an equivalent?), the communication set-up (e.g. number of sites – for examples with Sakhalin we communicate between London, Amsterdam, The Hague, Norway, South Korea, Dubai and Sakhalin Island whereas for the software company everything was in-house) and the appearance of the user interface.

The appearance of the user interface is complicated to describe, but easy to achieve.  For Sakhalin and Ekofisk the generic sites where work is done are called ’Vendor’, ’Onshore’, ’Offshore’, etc. whereas for the software supplier only one site was relevant.  There is no extra charge for the setup which suits your project.  It is included in the liscence fee which is determined by the size and complexity of your project.

 

TCS consists of a number of modules which all access a single, integrated database.  The reason for the number of modules is that we believe that people should be able to go into a system, do their work and go out without having to bother about what other users might need to do.  The modularity of TCS promotes the idea that an IT-system is a tool – a means to an objective.  The single, integrated database enforces that all the information presented in every module is consistent.  Furthermore, all modules are not equally interesting for all projects.  Hydro testing is completely irrelevant for software testing, for example, and that module was never installed at the software vendor site.
